So…maybe it’d be a good idea to lighten the mood just a tad around these parts after that last post eh? And btw, I fully intend to go back and reply to all of your comments, but not tonight. Tonight let’s have a little fun and maybe a few giggles. So how about we get to that giveaway?
Remember awhile back when I reviewed that Scape sunscreen face shield (and love love loved it. Review’s here fyi.)? Well, Morgan over at Scape had said if you all were interested she’d be happy to give some away. You were. And so she is. YAY!!!
In fact, she’s got a little Scape sunscreen care package put together with a face shield, lip balm, and a mini lotion all waterproof and sweatproof with an SPF of 50 blocking both UVA AND UVB rays (so the ones that cause burns AND the ones that cause cancer) for some lucky running mamma out there. Here’s a picture of all the goodies:
So if you’d like to score yourself a Scape care package. Here’s what you’ve got to do:
Required:
1) Be a U.S. and/or Canadian resident (sorry my international friends).
2) Be a follower of this blog and/or “Like” Secrets of a Running Mom on Facebook.
3) Tell me something funny that one of your little darlings has said or done with respect to yours or their running (and ok, it can be non-running related if you’ve got something way funnier you’d like to share.) No kids? That’s ok just tell us something funny that you did or saw while running. I’m just looking for a laugh here folks that’s all.
And that’s it. No extra entries for this one. We’re just going to keep it simple this time. So once you’ve done all of the above, leave me a comment to let me know you want in. All entries must be received by Thursday, July 21st, 2011 at 11:59:59 PM. I’ll randomly select the winner (well, actually, I’ll probably have one of my little girlies draw the winner out of a big bowl of names as usual. I think it’s Tiger’s turn this time). Then, I’ll announce who the lucky gal or fella is the next day.
And to kick off the giveaway, here’s my own funny kid running related photo, the Little Miss’ Running Ready Position. Now, I almost hesitate to show it and giveaway one of her super fast running secrets, but alas, I do believe I promised it in an earlier post. So here she is lined up at the start of the 55 meter dash:
But Coach tried to help her adjust her position a little some today. You know, get her in a proper starting stance and all.
So here’s how that turned out:
Swear. I promise you I did not just take two before pictures. At least that front foot is now pointed in the direction she’ll be running and she DOES look pretty pleased about it. Might be kind of tricky to maintain though when starting blocks are introduced. Ah well, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Follow the blog. Both Bella and I have liked the Facebook page. :)
When I was at the doctors office yesterday I watched two men walk in, go straight to the bathroom, and then leave. The funny part? They both took hobo showers in the bathroom and left with hair smelling like hand soap. The look on the receptionists face when they walked in was priceless. I wanted it to get stuck that way. May or may not be funny. I thought it was.

This isn't crazy funny, but something sweet-ish is that sometimes when i come home from races, my little ones meet me at the door chiming "Did you win? Did you win?!" Because, yes, they believe I could! (And, no, I haven't won! But they do see me come home with age group medals so I guess, yeah, they're right. I DID win!)
I follow you! My 2 year old will ask, when she sees me in running clothes, "Going running, Mommy?" It doesn't sound that cute in writing, but when you hear her say it in her little 2 year old voice, I promise, it is. If I'm dawdling around, she'll say, "Mommy, you need to go exercise!"

My 3 1/2 yr old daughter just recently told me that she's "too little to run on the roads. when she's bigger then she can run on the roads too." And she always asks after a run, "How'd you runnin go, Mommy?" :)

My daughter always wants me to cuddle with her for a few minutes before bed every night. One night, I had just finished with a run so I told her I was stinky and needed to shower first. She said assured me that couldn't possibly be true because "only Daddys get stinky".
P.S. - I am a U.S. Citizen, a stalker, I mean follower of your blog and I "like" you on Facebook.

I follow your blog and you on FB already
Not incredibly funny, but my almost 3 year old is the safety police. He'll watch out the front window and yell "watch out for cars mama" before I leave and "be careful so you don't get hurt" I find it funny coming from the kid who tries to ride his power wheels off a coffee table. :)
I'm born and raised in the US and proud of it! ! !
I'm a follower and proud of that too! !
My story.....
me: Hey Parker would you like to run with me in the morning?
Parker (8 year old nephew): where are we going?
me: down the road
Parker: why?
me: to get some exercise
Parker: will there be a sausage biscuit where we are going?
I had to laugh. :-)

My favorite thing one of my kids has said about my running is when my third grade daughter was telling her teacher than I ran a marathon. I got under four hours and was really excited about my time, but what really mattered most to Amanda was what she told her teacher. "My mom ran a marathon. And she beat a LOT of boys". :)
In the world of third grade playground, if you are a girl runner and can beat the boys, you are BIG TIME.

I am a treadmill running Mommy and every time I get off of the treadmill My son says 'WOW! Mom you run so fast"Its hilarious since I am a new runner..But Its sweet of him.
Facebook follower!
Not running related, but my little one has been in swim lessons. The other day I was watching and he just let go of the wall and went under. When I asked him about it, he said "Mama, I was trying to walk on water like Jesus. But, I just can't do it!" Dead...serious...

I've liked your blog and FB page for some time now...
My kids are my biggest supporters. I (regretably) announced a very large annual goal (to run over 1,000 kms). My oldest daughter asks almost EVERY week, very casual-like...so, how's it going with your goal to run over 1,000 kms?? Like she's my boss or something..oh wait, they are my boss.
I follow you in my reader and on FB. My 4 year old thinks that I run fast, but I'm not. She also loves to run like I do and knows that it is good exercise! She always says that when she is running around the house and I ask her what she is doing. "I am running Mommy, because it's good exercise and keeps me healthy!"
Little Miss's running stance pictures just crack me up !
I live in the good ol' US of A!

My kid makes me feel slow. A couple weeks ago we went to the track and my little lovely made it a full lap around the track. When she was near the end, she kicked it into high gear and beat me to the finish, and made sure to let me know I don't run as fast as her. Now I have someone to push through speed workouts.
I follow you on facebook! My kids are always asking me "Mama, why do you run?" They never seem to understand the answers I give them, even if I change them up (to have fun, to be in shape, to burn off stress). I think that's cute. My 6 year old always loves to go running with me, and we sprint for about 10 seconds, then he's done. :) This always makes me smile. We are working on endurance...slowly.
ok, I just followed your blog!
